Alliant Insurance Services announces that James Chenoweth, former Partner of Gibson Dunn & Crutcher and Baker Botts, has joined the company in the Mergers & Acquisitions group. Chenoweth will specialize in providing tax, litigation and M&A risk solutions to private equity firms and corporate clients for their most challenging transactional risks.
“James is an outstanding tax lawyer with an excellent reputation earned over 17 years of practice at the highest levels,” said Dan Schoenberg, Executive Vice President, Alliant Mergers & Acquisitions. “He’s the perfect partner to help lead and grow our premier Tax Insurance and Transaction Liability Insurance practice. His deep relationships and understanding of the products will make him indispensable as we execute our strategy.”
Prior to joining Alliant, Chenoweth, along with six others, opened the Houston office of Gibson Dunn, which now has over 50 lawyers and where he served as a tax partner since 2017. Prior to that, Chenoweth was a Partner of Baker Botts in Houston where he began his career as an associate in 2005.

Chenoweth earned his Doctor of Law and Masters of Law from New York University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas, Austin, where he graduated with honors, Phi Beta Kappa.
