Eversheds Sutherland is pleased to announce that Jason D. Dexter has joined the firm as a partner in the federal tax group with a focus on transactional and tax accounting matters within the real estate, infrastructure, energy, technology and telecommunication industries. Mr. Dexter joins the firm from the Washington National Tax office of KPMG.
Resident in the Washington, DC office, Mr. Dexter works closely with clients to deliver tax-efficient planning and transaction structuring advice in connection with complex tax-oriented investments, acquisitions, developments, dispositions, financings and restructurings. He regularly serves as tax counsel on matters involving commercial real estate projects, fiber-optic cable and data center infrastructure solutions, renewable and alternative energy facilities, and operating business assets through the use of lease, sale-leaseback, corporate, joint venture, partnership and limited liability company structures.

Prior to his accounting firm experience, Mr. Dexter served at the US Tax Court for the Honorable Mark V. Holmes. Mr. Dexter is former Chair of the Real Estate Committee of the American Bar Association Section of Taxation. Mr. Dexter has written numerous articles for various publications and is a frequent lecturer at conferences across the US. Mr. Dexter is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Virginia, Illinois and the US Tax Court. Mr. Dexter earned his law degree from the University of Kansas in 2010 and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas in 2005.
Mr. Dexter’s arrival follows the addition of federal tax Partners Jonathan A. Sambur and Xenia J. Garofalo, underscoring the Tax Practice Group’s continued growth and goal to provide clients with the most skilled and talented practitioners across the tax field.
