Program Will Offer Advice On KeepingWomen On The Road To Career Success

The Greater New York Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel and the firm of Dorsey & Whitney LLP this month are planning a CLE seminar titled Off-Ramps and On-Ramps: Keeping Talented Women on the Road to Success.

The program is scheduled for Tuesday, May 10 from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Penn Club, 20 West 44th Street, New York City.

The session will be based on an article with the same title as the seminar that appeared in the March 2005 issue of the Harvard Business Review. One of the authors, Carolyn Buck Luce of Ernst & Young LLP, will be the guest speaker to discuss the findings from the study that prompted the article and the growing dilemma professional women face when they try to re-enter the workforce.

She will outline some of the advice for retaining talented women that appears in the article, including: provide part-time work, provide flexibility in the day, provide flexibility in the arc of a career, remove the stigma of flexible arrangements, stop burning bridges, provide outlets for altruism, nurture ambition, and adopt an "on-ramp."

Ms. Luce also will discuss the specifics that Ernst & Young has done to keep women on the path to partnership.

The presentation will be followed by a networking reception.

There is no registration fee for the program.
