Program On Ethics Issues For Investment Company Counsel

The New York City Bar Association will present Current Legal and Ethical Issues for Counsel to Investment Companies and Advisers on Tuesday, June 10 from 6 to 9 p.m.It will take place at the House of the Association, 42 West 42nd St, New York City and be chaired by Philip L. Kirstein, AllianceBernstein.

The necessity of dealing with conflicts of interest in the investment company arena has long been recognized as a way of life for '40 Act lawyers. Generally, industry participants, regulators and critics focus on the conflicts that exist between the investment company (or its shareholders) and the investment company's investment adviser and its affiliates. This program will address both these and other conflicts that investment companies, investment company directors and investment advisers need to consider in the normal course of the company's operations and the ramifications if the conflicts are not appropriately addressed. A panel of experienced industry lawyers will discuss these conflicts and the means to mitigating the litigation and regulatory risks.
