PLI To Review Corporate Compliance And Ethics

In response to a legal and regulatory landscape that is becoming increasingly complex, The Practising Law Institute has scheduled a two-day CLE program titled Advanced Corporate Compliance and Ethics Workshop 2009 on Wednesday and Thursday, December 2 and 3, at the PLI California Center, 685 Market Street in San Francisco.

The program will run from 9 a.m. until 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Designed for experienced compliance officers, attorneys and staff responsible for compliance and ethics program administration, the program, which will be presented as an interactive workshop, will allow attendees to explore best practices in preventing and detecting misconduct and learn about the latest developments in compliance and ethics. Topics that will be covered include how the global financial crisis has influenced and changed compliance; international compliance and third-party risks - how far should compliance reach?; the evolving role of the board; issues in employment compliance; risk assessments - the new criteria; and mini trial: a compliance officer case study.

Among the expert faculty are Theodora R. Lee, Littler Mendelson, P.C.; Cheryl Fackler Hug, vice president legal and chief integrity and compliance officer, Sun Microsystems, Inc.; and Marc J. Fagel, regional director, San Francisco Regional Office, U.S. SEC.
