PLI Schedules San Francisco Seminar ExploringPatent Reexamination

On Monday, January 10, The Practising Law Institute will present Reissue and Reexamination Strategies and Tactics with Concurrent Litigation 2011 in San Francisco.

It will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the PLI California Center, 685 Market Street in San Francisco.

Designed for patent owners and investors involved in patent litigation or considering the initiation of patent litigation; corporate counsel responsible for managing a patent portfolio and responding to third-party inquiries; patent litigators advising clients in disputes that may lead to litigation; and patent professionals representing others before the USPTO in the reexamination and reissue areas, this program focuses on the role of reexamination as a component of a litigation strategy, including pre-trial and post-trial applications of patent reexamination.

Topics that will be covered include Ex Parte Patent Reexamination & Patent Reissue - Opportunities and Pitfalls; Petition Practice in Patent Reexamination from a USPTO Perspective; and Pre-Trial and Post-Trial Reexamination Strategies Concurrent with Litigation.

A panel discussion titled A View from the Bench on Concurrent PTO Proceedings moderated by Leonard Richard Svensson, Birch, Stewart, Kolasch & Birch, LLP follows, and Joanna H. Kim, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP will end the day with a discussion about ethical considerations of reissue.
