PLI Schedules Annual IP Law Institute

PLI has scheduled its 14th annual Intellectual Property Law Institute. The two-day seminarwill be held Thursday and Friday, October 2 and 3, at the PLI California Center, 685 Market Street, San Francisco.

On day one, the seminar will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. On day two, the seminar will go from 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

The institute, designed for IP attorneys, in-house counsel, and others who need a comprehensive update on IP law, will explore the most important developments in patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret law. A highlight will be a panel of in-house IP counsel from prominent companies discussing the most troubling problems confronting them today, and they will suggest best practices for dealing with these problems.

The program will also feature four breakout sessions to deal separately with copyrights, licensing, patents, and trademarks, each with three current topics in its respective area.Among the breakout topics will be the use of e-discovery in patent litigation, the new TTAB rules, the copyright implications of social networks, and recent licensing decisions.

Among the scheduled speakers are Richard J. Lutton, Jr., chief patent counsel, Apple Inc.; Wayne P. Sobon, associate general counsel and director of Intellectual Property, Accenture LLP; and Holly K. Towle of K&L Gates.
