PLI Reviews Copyright Law, Global Trademark Law, In Two-Day Program

The Practising Law Institute has scheduled a combination program - Understanding Copyright Law in the Data Era and Understanding Trademark Law in the Global Marketplace 2011 on Monday and Tuesday, July 11 and 12, at the PLI CA Center, 685 Market Street in San Francisco.

It will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. both days.

Understanding Copyright Law will cover the latest developments for copyright law in 2011 and will include the rights that copyright protection confers and how these rights are protected; the new cases that are changing the rights conferred by copyright; the types of remedies that are involved in infringement actions; how copyright principles apply online; and critical licensing strategies.

Speakers include J. Michael Keyes, K&L Gates LLP; Pilar Keagy Johnson, senior counsel, Turner Broadcasting, Cartoon Network - Adult Swim; and James D. Nguyen, Davis Wright Tremaine LLP.

The second segment, Understanding Trademark Law, will provide an overview of the key principles of trademark law and unfair competition, including terminology, the federal Lanham Act, and the underlying policies that support strong trademark protection.
