PBI To Explore Religion In The Workplace

The Pennsylvania Bar Institute has scheduled an afternoon seminar titled Religion in the Workplace for Thursday, July 30, from noon to 2 p.m.

The live session will be held at the CLE Conference Center in the Wanamaker Building, Suite 1010, in Philadelphia, and it will be simulcast to West Chester and Mechanicsburg.

Religion in the workplace and the various issues that arise may have never been more prevalent than now, when America is absorbing peoples of varying religions from around the globe and with traditional religious groups becoming more vocal. This seminar will explore the various challenges that religion can bring to the workplace, such as the distinction between a hostile work environment and a "faith friendly" workplace; when an employee's religious belief is "sincerely held," whether employers must allow employees to proselytize, how employee religious beliefs impact employer work rules, work schedules, dress and appearance standards, and how employers and employees ultimately can create a professional environment free from religious discrimination and harassment.

The faculty presenters are Barbara Rittinger Rigo, Littler Mendelson PC; Joyce B. Link, Montgomery McCracken Walker Rhoads, LLP; and Kevin I. Lovitz, the Lovitz Law Firm. P.C.
