The Pennsylvania Bar Institute (PBI) will present a CLE seminar titled Banking and Consumer Financial Services Law Update.
The program will take place on Thursday, December 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the CLE Conference Center, Wanamaker Building, Juniper Street, Philadelphia.
Panelists will examine issues such as: where the federal bank regulators and the courts stand on federal pre-emption of state banking, licensing and other laws including the implications of the U.S. Supreme Court's opinion in Watters v. Wachovia Bank; the legal pitfalls involved in offering stored-value cards, including gift cards, payroll cards and Internet banking; what the meltdown in the subprime mortgage lending industry means to the banking industry; the difficulties in protecting customers against data security breaches and identity theft, and the "hot button" issues with the bank regulators.
