PBI Philadelphia Seminar Examines PA Wage And Hour Law

On Wednesday, July 28, join the Pennsylvania Bar Institute for a presentation focusing on Getting Paid in Pennsylvania: Basics of Wage & Hour Law. The seminar will be held at the PBI Conference Center in the Wanamaker Building in Central Philadelphia.

The session begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 12:45 p.m.

The Fair Labor Standards Act has many provisions that may take practitioners by surprise. For instance, the FLSA does not obligate an employer to grant paid or unpaid vacation or holiday leave, and it does not limit the number of hours an employee may work during any work week. Participants will learn which Pennsylvania laws affect wage and hour law and, more importantly, how the federal and state laws work together.

This course will help attendees master the fundamentals of wage and hour law in Pennsylvania and help participants identify and debunk wage and hour myths and misunderstandings. The focus of the seminar will be on the practical, day-to-day questions that arise in the workplace. Practitioners will learn how the various wage laws operate and what the responsibilities of an employer are.

The presenters are Shannon D. Farmer, Ballard Spahr, LLP; Gary F. Lynch, Carlson Lynch, Ltd.; Michele H. Malloy, Littler Mendelson, P.C.; and Claudia M. Williams, Thomas Thomas & Hafer.
