PBI Discusses Workplace Sexual Harassment Claims

The Pennsylvania Bar Institute will present a program titled Workplace Investigations of Sexual Harassment Claims on Thursday, August 26, at the PBI Professional Development Center, 339 Sixth Avenue in Pittsburgh.

The session starts at 12:30 p.m. and runs until 3:45 p.m.

In this course, attendees will examine the legal and practical considerations that arise when handling sexual harassment investigations. Investigating a claim of workplace misconduct, particularly one involving an allegation of sexual harassment, is a very sensitive matter. The way in which a workplace investigation is conducted often sets the stage for whether an allegation of sexual harassment will wind up in litigation. Participants will be offered practical tips such as choosing an appropriate investigator, strategies for investigation, retaliation charges arising out of investigations, ethical traps within the investigation process, and updates to the case law involving investigations.

The program will be conducted by Michael J. Torchia, Semanoff, Ormsby, Greenberg & Torchia LLC; John DiNome, Reed Smith, LLP; and Stephen G. Console, Console Law Offices, LLC.
