NYCLA's Forum On Protecting Journalists' Confidential Sources

The New York County Lawyers' Association's (NYCLA) Entertainment, Media, Intellectual Property and Sports Law Section (EMIPS) recently presented a public forum, "Protecting Journalists and Their Confidential Sources - A Matter of Privilege," featuring former New York Times reporter Judith Miller at the NYCLA Home of Law. The public forum addressed the journalists' conundrum: their responsibility to provide the public with information and, at the same time, protect the identities of confidential sources versus the U.S. government's security concerns regarding the release of secret and top-secret information as it pursues a war on terror that was launched in the wake of the September 11 attacks. Ms. Miller is now with The Manhattan Institute.
