NYCLA Plans Video Replay Of Seminar On The Patriot Act

The New York County Lawyers' Association (NYCLA) has scheduled a video replay of a CLE seminar titled Terrorism and the Patriot Act - NSA Letters, Going Postal! Our Constitutional Rights Under Siege.

The program will take place on Tuesday, November 20 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the NYCLA Home of Law, 14 Vesey Street, New York City.

The Patriot Act was initially enacted in response to the events of September 11, 2001 as a way to dramatically expand the powers of U.S. law enforcement authorities in their fight against terrorism, both in the United States and abroad. Yet, as has recently been in the news, many of these tactics have been seen as undermining many of the basic civil liberties guaranteed by the United States Constitution. This program takes a critical look at the Patriot and other Acts, discusses how our constitutional rights are being threatened, and how attorneys can best represent and protect their clients' rights.

The featured speaker is Mark B. Rosen, professor, John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
