On Thursday, December 11, the NY City Bar Association will host a seminar titled Securities Litigation During The Credit Crisis: Current Developments and Strategies. The program will be held at The House of the Association, 42 West 44th Street, New York City, beginning at 9 a.m. and adjourning at 5 p.m. The course will be chaired by Lawrence J. Zweifach, Heller Ehrman LLP.
The credit crisis has given rise to a substantial increase in the filing of securities class actions and to investigations being conducted by the SEC, the Department of Justice, and state and local prosecutors. Recent court decisions have also altered the litigation landscape.
The program intends to present important developments in securities litigation and offer strategies and tactics for prosecuting and defending these cases.
Topics to be covered include strategies for prosecuting and defending securities class actions and derivative lawsuits; the impact of Stoneridge, Tellabs and other recent Supreme Court cases; litigation involving foreign securities transactions; best practices in corporate internal investigations; corporate governance litigation update; and settlement trends and tactics.
