NYC Bar Seeking NomineesFor Diversity Champion Award

Nominations are being sought for the New York City Bar's Second Annual Diversity Champion Award to be presented at the Fourth Annual Diversity Conference on May 23.

The award recognizes the role individuals have played in initiating change within their organizations and the overall New York legal community.

The award seeks to honor up to three individuals who champion the ideals embodied in the New York City Bar's Statement of Diversity Principles. Nominations are limited to attorneys, although it is not necessary that they be actively practicing law.

Applicants are welcome from a wide range of positions and sectors within the legal community - government, firm, corporation, and non-profit. Nominees will be evaluated on their excellence in one or more of the following areas: influencing others, being a role model, continually learning, cultivating diverse teams, innovating and taking risks, holding oneself and others accountable for diversity, and external leadership involvement.

Nominations must be submitted by January 26.

The 2006 winners were the Hon. Daniel M. Donovan Jr., district attorney, Richmond County; William Malpica, Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP, and Elizabeth D. Moore, Nixon Peabody LLP.
