NYC Bar Looks At Litigation Arising From The Financial Crisis

The NYC Bar Association is holding a video replay of a seminar discussing current developments in securities litigation sparked by the recent financial crisis. The replay will be held on Friday, August 6, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Bar Association Offices located at 42 West 44th Street in New York City.

Participants will learn about the increased filings of securities-related litigation brought about by the recent financial meltdown. In this program an expert faculty discusses important developments in securities litigation and offers strategies and tactics for prosecuting and defending these cases. The course offers outside and in-house counsel an overview of cutting-edge issues, ranging from the nuts and bolts principles to sophisticated strategic advice. Some of the topics are litigation arising from the Madoff scandal and other Ponzi schemes, litigation involving foreign securities transactions, and subprime and auction rate securities litigation. The program is chaired by Lawrence J. Zweifach of Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP.Other speakers include Mark E. Segall, senior vice president, head of litigation, J.P. Morgan Chase Bank; David Rosenfeld, associate regional director of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission;and Michael Berlin, deputy attorney general for economic justice, NYS Attorney General's Office.
