Northwestern Law Schedules Fall Corporate Counsel Institute

The Northwestern School of Law has scheduled its annual Corporate Counsel Institute for December 4 and 5 at the InterContinental Mark Hopkins, 1 Knob Hill,San Francisco.

On Thursday, the program will begin at 8:45 a.m. and end at 5 p.m., to be followed by a reception. Friday's program begins with an optional breakfast and roundtable discussions titled Litigation Management and Managing Outside Counsel Performance from 8 to 9 a.m., to be followed by the keynote presentation from 9 to 9:30 a.m. The program concludes at 12:15 p.m. on Friday.

Topics that will be discussed include Legal Issues in the Current Credit Environment; Risks of Doing Business in Non-U.S. Jurisdictions; Data Protection and Privacy; Developments in Employment Law and Labor Relations; Developments in White Collar Crime; Ethical Dilemmas for Corporate Counsel; SEC Developments Affecting Corporations; and Advising Managements and the Board Regarding Corporate Governance.

The scheduled keynote speaker is Marc Fagel, Regional Director of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for San Francisco. Also among the presenters are David E. Van Zandt, dean and professor of law, Northwestern University School of Law; Mark Michael, senior executive advisor, Control Risks and former general counsel, 3Com Corp., Robert W. Tarun, Baker & McKenzie LLP; Jim Halpert, DLA Piper US LLP; and Robert T. Wentland, managing director, Huron Consulting Group.
