The National Legal Center for the Public Interest (NLCPI) this month is planning a two-day program titled The First 72 Hours of a Government Investigation.
The program will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, January 17 and 18 at the International Trade Center, 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC. Dinner on Wednesday will begin at 6:30 p.m. The Thursday program will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
The program co-chairs are William B. Lytton, general counsel, Tyco International, and George J. Terwilliger, White & Case. The keynote speaker will be Paul J. McNulty, deputy U.S. attorney general. Program moderators will include Thomas A. Gottschalk, executive vice president-law and public policy, General Motors Corporation; Lori E. Lightfoot, Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP, and Gary G. Lynch, chief legal officer, Morgan Stanley.
Among the topics to be addressed by panelists are: Preservation of Documents, Particularly Electronic Data; Assessment of the Accuracy of Imminent Public Statements and/or SEC Filings; Whether to Retain Outside Counsel and Who to Retain; Preparing for Potential Press Inquiries and Collateral Civil Litigation, and Reviewing the Plans in Place If the Government Executes a Search Warrant.
