NJICLE Explores Data Security Issues

NJ ICLE has scheduled a morning seminar for Thursday, February 25, to explain data security issues. Titled Mastering the New Data Breach, ID Theft & Privacy Laws, the seminar will run from 9 a.m. to noon at the New Jersey Law Center in New Brunswick.

Every day we hear stories of hackers stealing personal data or companies losing laptops with valuable information. Data breaches, IP theft and privacy have become threats to New Jersey businesses and to the public. State and federal regulations are therefore evolving rapidly with major new federal laws (such as Red Flag rules, HITECH and FACTA) and numerous bills concerning privacy pending before the New Jersey legislature. Attorneys need to understand these rules to advise clients and to protect themselves, as attorneys collect personal data about clients and so have privacy exposure as well.

Robert D. Chesler of Lowenstein Sandler P.C. is the program moderator, and speakers include Theodore J. Kobus, Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin and Timothy L. Mohr, principal, BDO Consulting.
