New York State Bar DiscussesLegal Implications Of Social Networking

The New York State Bar Association has scheduled a fall webinar titled Twittering, Linking, Posting & Friending: Legal Implications of Social Networking for Tuesday, November 17, from noon until 2 p.m.

Sample social networking policies will be presented and discussed by Steven C. Bennett of Jones Day and Andrea K. Stimmel of Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle, LLP. Barbara Beauchamp of the NYSBA will moderate the discussion.

First the panel will cover the basics of popular social networking tools and how to participate in social networks, and they will explore the possibilities and pitfalls in using them (such as LinkedIn, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Blogs, YouTube and podcasts). They will then discuss what social networking means for you, your clients, and your business, including the implications of participating in social networks for lawyers, the legal impact social networks have on your clients' businesses, the implications of social networking for discovery and litigation, best practices for safe social networking, and what you can post.
