The New York City Bar Association will present a CLE seminar titled Obtaining Evidence Overseas: Strategies & Insights for Overcoming the Investigation Hurdles on Tuesday, December 1, at The Association of the Bar of the City of New York, 42 West 44th Street in New York from 6 to 8 p.m.
When your client is prosecuted in New York but most of the evidence is located overseas, what do you do? This seminar will teach the common U.S. and foreign hurdles associated with conducting an investigation abroad and provide guidance to practitioners in conducting internal investigations, gathering evidence abroad and using that evidence.
Moderator Michael C. Miller of Steptoe & Johnson LLP and speakers T. Barry Kingham, Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP; Carlos F. Oritz, DLA Piper US LLP; and Wendy Wysong, Clifford Chance, will discuss the following issues: extraterritorial applications of U.S. criminal law - issues relating to prior statements and search and seizure overseas; conducting investigations abroad; interviewing witnesses abroad; admitting evidence obtained overseas; and FCPA, export control, cross-border criminal prosecutions.
