Nevada State Bar To Teach Lawyers Better Writing

Lawyers will have the opportunity to improve their writing skills at a seminar titled "Better Legal Writing,"sponsored by the State Bar of Nevada.

The seminar will be offered twice, on Thursday, June 12 at the Northern Nevada Bar Center in Reno and then on Friday, June 13 at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas.

The program will run from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on both days.

The presenter is Ronald R. Hofer, district staff attorney, Wisconsin Court of Appeals. In an entertaining format, he will teach participants tools for making their writing more convincing, understandable, and effective. He will cover such topics as how clarity helps persuade, how legal writing is different from and similar to other kinds of writing, rhetoric, with examples from popular culture, journalism, and case law, and how to shorten sentences without losing content.
