National Association Of Minority And Women Owned Law Firms Annual Meeting In Washington, DC

The National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms' 2010 annual meeting will take place Monday, October 4, through Wednesday, October 6 in Washington, DC. The meeting will held be at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center located at 201 Waterfront Street, National Harbor, Maryland.

It is free for in-house counsel, but registration is required.

There will be a pre-meeting tour of Washington, DC on Sunday, October 3 from noon to 5:00 p.m. for the first 57 registrants.

On Monday, the seminar will begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 4:45 p.m.,and a cocktail reception and gala awards dinner will be held from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. Tuesday's program is set to begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 4:30 p.m. On Wednesday the sessions begin at 9:00 a.m. and the meeting will adjourn at 12:30 p.m.

The CLE sessions will include Conducting a Corporate Investigation - a panel discussing the privilege, work product, and other issues that arise when conducting corporate investigations. The speakers will be Stacy Fode, Brown Law Group; Gilda Spencer, Nationwide Insurance; Aisha Jorge, The Chubb Group of Companies; and Gary Lafayette of Lafayette & Kumagai.

The in-house counsel session, moderated by Joel Stern, Accenture LLP, will be a collaborative corporate and public entity look at effectively utilizing NAMWOLF success stories and overcoming the challenges and obstacles in getting started using NAMWOLF firms. The keynote speaker is Victoria A. Lupnic, the recently appointed commissioner of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Ms. Lupnic will address the issues in working with the EEOC under expanding enforcement and compliance initiatives. Participants will have the opportunity to bring their questions to the commissioner.
