Nathan Davis Joins Stoel Rives As It Expands Its Insurance Litigation Practice in Portland

Stoel Rives, an Am Law 200 firm, announced today the addition of Nathan Davis, an insurance coverage and litigation attorney who joins the firm’s Portland office as a partner. Davis brings to the firm more than 14 years of litigation experience, particularly in advising policyholders in complex insurance disputes.

“Stoel Rives’ strong regional reputation and its full-service capabilities were a major factor in my joining the firm. The caliber of Stoel Rives’ attorneys is exceptional, and the firm’s capabilities expand well beyond its Pacific Northwest footprint, servicing a broad range of industries across the country and presenting an array of opportunities for my practice,” Davis said. “I am excited to work with my new colleagues and provide insurance recovery services to the firm’s clients, as well as to deepen the services that we can offer to my existing clients.”

Davis represents clients on insurance recovery matters across the U.S. He advises policyholders on securing coverage under a variety of policies, including general liability, directors and officers, business interruption, and media liability. Additionally, he has extensive experience in high-stakes commercial litigation, representing clients in a variety of sectors, including food and beverage, banking, real estate, hospitality, health care, and entertainment. His litigation portfolio spans business disputes, unfair competition, deceptive practices, environmental liability, shareholder disputes, construction defects, intellectual property issues, and cyber theft.

“Nathan significantly expands our insurance litigation capabilities to serve policyholders in the Pacific Northwest and California in securing insurance coverage in a wide variety of contexts,” said B. John Casey, chair of Stoel Rives’ Litigation Group. “He is a highly sophisticated practitioner and will provide our clients with top-tier advice and counsel.”

Most recently, Davis practiced at boutique insurance law firm Pasich LLP in Los Angeles. Earlier in his career, he was an associate at Liner LLP and a fellow with nonprofit law firm Bet Tzedek. He completed a judicial internship with the Honorable Joan M. Azrack of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.

Davis earned his J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law magna cum laude, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif. He earned a B.A. in international studies summa cum laude from Middlebury College. Prior to beginning his legal career, he worked at the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Apollo Theater Foundation in New York.
