Morrison & Foerster advises Visa Inc. in acquisition of YellowPepper

Morrison & Foerster advises Visa Inc. in its acquisition of YellowPepper, a fintech pioneer with proprietary technology and partnerships supporting leading financial institutions and startups across nine Latin American and Caribbean countries including Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Visa’s acquisition of YellowPepper builds on a strategic partnership and investment it made in YellowPepper earlier this year. The acquisition will accelerate the adoption of Visa’s “network of networks” strategy by significantly reducing the time-to-market and cost for issuers and processors associated with accessing innovative and interoperable solutions, regardless of who owns or operates the payment rails.

The deal was announced on October 27, 2020.

The MoFo deal team advising Visa in the transaction was led by Miami-based Latin America Desk co-chair Randy Bullard and San Francisco-based Global Corporate Department co-chair Eric McCrath, together with Palo Alto Corporate partner Stephanie Sharron; Miami Corporate associates Julia Danforth, Axel Miranda, and Ana B. Llerena; and New York Technology Transactions of counsel Anthony Ramirez and associate Katherine Marie Devries.
