The Minnesota State Bar Association this month will present a CLE seminar titled Conducting an Internal Investigation: Why Do It, How to Do It, What to Avoid, a program aimed specifically at in-house counsel.

The session will take place on Tuesday, December 12 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Minnesota CLE Conference Center, 600 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis.

The faculty will address topics such as: whether to conduct an investigation, how to structure and staff an investigation, how to develop an investigation strategy, how to interview employees and witnesses, how to compile the findings, how to maximize the protections of the attorney-client and work product privileges, how to report findings to company executives and directors, whether to self-disclose violations, and how to handle meetings with prosecutors.

Speakers will include Martin J. Weinstein and Robert J. Meyer, Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP; James T. Hale, former executive vice president, general counsel and secretary, Target Corporation; James P. Jacobson, senior vice president and general counsel, Medica, and Richard F. Zeigler, senior vice president-legal affairs and general counsel, 3M.
