The Voice of the Defense Bar has scheduled the Medical Liability and Health Care Law Seminar on Thursday and Friday, February 11 and 12, at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel in Phoenix.
The seminar will begin at 8 a.m. and adjourn at 6 p.m. to a networking reception and dine-arounds on Thursday. On Friday, the course begins at 8 a.m. and adjourns at 1:15 p.m.
Practitioners in the field will want to participate in this cutting-edge seminar with experts analyzing current issues in medical liability and healthcare litigation. They will learn about hospital-specific issues and claims and several high-risk specialty fields, including defense of obstetrical cases, and have the opportunity to network with industry professionals. Physicians, lawyers, and healthcare and insurance industry professionals will discuss developing issues in healthcare litigation, including managing the new CMS regulations stemming from the SCHIP Extension Act in the reporting and settlement of cases; how to handle staff privileging issues and lessons learned from negligent credentialing cases; what to do when selecting a jury from an adverse pool; and the ethical management of former clients, experts, and co-defendants in healthcare litigation.
Among the faculty are Roy A. Franco, risk management strategies director for Safeway Inc; NancyGregor, senior counsel with the Johns Hopkins Health System; Michael S. Komoll, national litigation counsel, CAN HealthPro claims; and Aubrey Milunsky, professorand founding director of the Center for Human Genetics at the Boston University School of Medicine.
