McGuireWoods has selected New York partner Wanda French-Brown as its representative member for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity 2020 Fellows Program. The career development initiative helps talented lawyers from diverse backgrounds build client relationships and excel in leadership roles. McGuireWoods has been an LCLD member and participant since the organization was founded in 2009.
French-Brown is a litigator who handles patent infringement matters in federal district and appellate courts, the U.S. International Trade Commission, and the Patent Trial and Appeals Board. She represents clients in a range of technologies, including wireless communication and mobile devices, LCD and LED, biotechnology, medical devices, healthcare diagnostics and pharmaceuticals with a concentration in Hatch-Waxman litigation.
French-Brown graduated, magna cum laude, from Seton Hall University School of Law with a concentration in intellectual property law. She is a member of the American Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Section and the National LGBT Bar Association. The National Black Lawyers recently selected French-Brown for its Top 100 Lawyers in New York list.
“I am proud to represent McGuireWoods as an LCLD fellow and eager for the opportunity to engage with peers and LCLD leaders over the next year,” French-Brown said.
Baltimore partner Ava Lias-Booker, chair of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, said, “LCLD is doing important work to develop a diverse pipeline of future leaders. Wanda will thrive as a member of the fellows program and continue to make valuable contributions to McGuireWoods and her clients.”
LCLD is a national organization of more than 320 corporate counsel and law firm managing partners dedicated to creating a diverse legal profession. Its Fellows Program launched in 2011 to increase diversity at the leadership levels of U.S. law firms and corporate legal departments.
