In its March 2020 newsletter, the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity named McGuireWoods Raleigh partner Elizabeth Timmermans as one of its new City Leads for the LCLD Success in Law School Mentoring Program.
Timmermans first became involved with LCLD shortly after she moved to Raleigh in 2013. She signed on as a mentor for the organization — and was quickly matched with then-law student Caroline Keen, who is now an associate in McGuireWoods’ Charlotte office. Keen continues to promote diversity as an alumni of the Charlotte Legal Diversity Clerkship and an officer for the Charlotte Asian Pacific American Bar Association. She also is a host of the LCLD Pipeline Committee’s 1L Scholars Program.
Timmermans joins McGuireWoods Raleigh partner Joan Dinsmore, who has served as a City Lead since 2019 and as an LCLD mentor since 2012.
Dinsmore and Timmermans will serve as Co-City Leads along with another Raleigh attorney.
LCLD’s Success in Law School Mentoring Program, a comprehensive initiative for first-year law students from diverse backgrounds, aims to ensure that talented law students receive the mentoring they need to maximize their potential, during law school and beyond, as they prepare for the bar exam and launch their careers.
City Leads are lawyers at LCLD member organizations who serve as local liaisons between LCLD and mentors, local law school students and law school administration.
