Kristen Calleja, counsel in McGuireWoods’ IP Litigation & Transactions Department in Richmond, will join the Virginia Office of the Attorney General on July 27, 2020, as a senior assistant attorney general in the Tobacco Enforcement Section of the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Division. Her last day at McGuireWoods is July 24.
Calleja was a summer associate with McGuireWoods in 1996. Following graduation from the University of Virginia School of Law, Calleja clerked for U.S. District Judge Rebecca Beach Smith of the Eastern District of Virginia before joining the firm in 1998.
At McGuireWoods, Calleja focuses on complex commercial litigation, including intellectual property disputes. She has litigated patent, trademark, false advertising, trade dress, dilution, copyright and trade secret matters, and advises clients on IP matters, including advertising issues. Calleja also has worked on antitrust litigation and class actions.
“I started my career at McGuireWoods as a summer associate and my experience here has been invaluable. While I am excited about this new opportunity, I will miss working with all of my friends and colleagues at McGuireWoods,” Calleja said.
“Kristen has been a valued member of our department throughout her tenure. While we will miss her great work and dedication, we wish Kristen the best,” said Richmond partner David Finkelson, chair of the Intellectual Property Litigation & Transactions Department.
