James Holt, a McGuireWoods complex commercial litigation associate in Tysons, will join American Petroleum Institute on July 6, 2021, as senior counsel working in litigation and compliance with API’s global industry services section. His last day at the firm was June 23.
At McGuireWoods, Holt focused on business contract breaches, land use disputes and commercial torts, handling complex, multimillion-dollar disputes in courts across the country.
Before joining McGuireWoods in 2015, Holt was a commercial litigator for a boutique litigation firm in Alexandria, Virginia. From 2009 to 2010, he clerked for Judge Claude M. Hilton of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. While attending George Mason University School of Law, Holt was a member of the George Mason Law Review and the moot court team.
“It was a tough decision to leave such a great firm, but I am very excited for this new opportunity,” Holt said. “I wish everyone at McGuireWoods continued success and I hope that our paths continue to cross.”
“James has been a valued team member and an asset to the practice,” said Charlotte partner Robert Muckenfuss, chair of the firm’s Complex Commercial Litigation Department. “We wish him the best of luck in his new role.”
