McGuireWoods' Gerald Thomas Selected for Another Term as Leader of ABA Real Property Section REIT

Gerald V. Thomas II, Chair of McGuireWoods’ Tax & Employee Benefits Department, has been selected for another term as leader of the Real Estate Investment Trusts (REIT) Committee of the American Bar Association Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law.

The committee focuses on real estate, tax and securities issues related to REITs and provides programming and publications for section members. The committee also examines the use of REITs in private equity funds, foreign investment in U.S. real estate and capital-raising efforts. Thomas will begin his new term as committee chair on Sept. 1.

Thomas focuses his practice on complex transactional tax matters and has represented numerous REITs in public offerings, joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions totaling billions of dollars. He is sought out by media for his insights on REITs.
