Emily S. Voorheis, an associate in McGuireWoods’ IP Litigation & Transactions Department in Tysons, will join Marriott International Inc. on Jan. 19, 2021, as privacy and data security corporate counsel.
At Marriott, Voorheis will provide global legal support on cybersecurity and privacy compliance issues. Her last day at McGuireWoods is Jan. 15, 2021.
During her six years at the firm, Voorheis counseled clients on risks and compliance strategy in intellectual property, marketing, data privacy and data security matters across industries. She also worked with McGuireWoods’ corporate teams on the data privacy, data security and intellectual property aspects of transactions, including due diligence in mergers and acquisitions and purchase agreement negotiations.
“I am grateful for the opportunities I was given at McGuireWoods to develop and practice in areas of the law that I love,” Voorheis said. “Every colleague I worked with focused on delivering the best results for clients, making it a great place to learn how to provide exceptional advice to clients facing difficult questions and issues.”
“Emily has been a valued member of our department,” said Richmond partner David Finkelson, chair of the IP Litigation & Transactions Department. “Though we will miss her skilled work and dedication, we wish Emily the best in her next venture.”
