McGuireWoods announces the addition of partners Jonathan M. Ishee and Janice M. Suchyta in Houston and Andrea Lee Linna in Chicago

McGuireWoods continues to grow its nationally recognized healthcare practice with the addition of partners Jonathan M. Ishee and Janice M. Suchyta in Houston and Andrea Lee Linna in Chicago. The trio brings significant private practice, in-house and government regulatory experience in healthcare technology and telehealth medical services. They join the firm’s digital health, technology and innovation group.

“Digital technology has transformed the delivery of healthcare and that evolution has accelerated during the coronavirus pandemic,” said Amber McGraw Walsh, chair of McGuireWoods’ Healthcare Department. “Jonathan, Janice and Andrea bring a depth and breadth of experience that will keep our healthcare industry clients on the leading edge of innovation.”

Ishee served as in-house counsel to a multispecialty medical practice in Houston. He also was a key regulator in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, where he focused on health information exchanges, privacy and security, and payment reform. His experience includes counseling clients on privacy and security issues, fraud and abuse, digital and telehealth regulatory compliance, emerging healthcare delivery models, licensing issues, medical residency programs and federally qualified health centers. Ishee serves as an assistant professor of biomedical informatics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Biomedical Informatics.

Suchyta provides strategic, regulatory and operational advice to health systems, hospitals, academic medical centers, federally qualified health centers, telehealth and other digital startups. She assists clients on cybersecurity and related liability issues; telehealth; data strategy, security and privacy; licensure and accreditation of healthcare facilities; Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement; and billing and coding matters. She previously served as in-house counsel at a regional health system with multiple clinic sites in Texas.

“Jonathan and Janice are highly respected attorneys and important additions as we continue growing our client service capabilities in Houston,” said Yasser Madriz, managing partner of McGuireWoods’ Houston office.

Linna represents healthcare providers and healthcare technology companies on M&A, data privacy and security, and regulatory matters. Her experience includes counseling a healthcare system on the rollout of a telehealth program during the COVID-19 pandemic. She also advises telehealth, digital health and technology companies on telemedicine regulations, state licensure and medical malpractice requirements, and Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement.

“Andrea’s command of issues at the intersection of healthcare, technology and innovation complements our strengths in Chicago and benefits clients nationwide,” said Christina Egan, managing partner of the Chicago office.
