Alexander Horn has joined McGuireWoods’ private equity industry team as a partner in Raleigh as the firm’s corporate practice continues growing in North Carolina’s vibrant Research Triangle region and enhances its highly ranked deal capabilities nationwide.
Horn advises publicly traded business development companies (BDCs), small business investment companies (SBICs) — private equity funds licensed and regulated by the U.S. Small Business Administration — and other private debt funds in a range of transactions. He represents public and private companies, banks, finance companies and investment funds on deals including syndicated and single-lender credit facilities, leveraged buyouts, and workouts and restructurings. He has handled significant deals for clients in the life sciences, pharmaceutical, and food and beverages industries.
Horn comes to McGuireWoods from Smith Anderson, reuniting with Raleigh private equity partner Anne Croteau, who joined McGuireWoods’ growing corporate practice in North Carolina last year from Smith Anderson.
“Alex brings an impressive track record in complex debt and equity financings. His experience in BDC and SBIC transactions will create more opportunities for our practice,” said David Whelpley, chair of the firm’s M&A, Energy & Private Equity Department.
Mark Anderson, managing partner of McGuireWoods’ Raleigh office, said Horn bolsters the firm’s client service capabilities in one of the nation’s top research and innovation hubs.
“Alex is highly regarded for his skill in guiding clients through sophisticated financing transactions,” Anderson said. “He is a great addition to our growing team in Raleigh.”
“McGuireWoods has established itself as a powerhouse in private equity deals and a leader in crafting innovative, business-minded solutions for clients,” Horn said. “I look forward to working with this world-class team to serve our clients.”
