Matthew Wochok joins BakerHostetler’s Washington office as a partner in the firm’s Tax Practice Group. Wochok joins from an AmLaw 200 firm and has extensive experience representing clients in a wide variety of domestic and international tax matters, including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, fund formation, and other complex business and financing transactions. Wochok is the latest addition to the firm’s national Tax Practice Group, which most recently welcomed prominent private wealth partner George McCormick in March.
With over a decade’s worth of experience in private practice, Wochok brings a diverse skill set that will immediately benefit our clients across all sectors and industries. His arrival further strengthens the firm’s nationally recognized Tax Practice Group, comprising more than 80 tax attorneys in offices across the nation.

Wochok is a skilled tax attorney who regularly counsels an array of clients, including early-stage companies, large financial institutions, real estate investment trusts, tax-exempt entities, captive insurance companies, investment funds and sovereign wealth funds. He advises clients on domestic and international tax matters, with a particular focus on M&A, private equity investments and fund formation.
Wochok also has substantial experience advising clients on capital markets offerings, real estate transactions and financial products.
Wochok received his B.S. from the University of Virginia and his J.D. cum laude from Georgetown University.
