The Los Angeles County Bar has scheduled an afternoon program titled TAP: Expert Witness Workshop for Tuesday, November 11, at the LACBA Executive Presentations Mock Courtroom, 281 South Figueroa Street in Los Angeles.
A meal and reception will be held from 1 to 1:30 p.m. with the programs following from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m.
The workshop will provide attendees with introductory and advanced instruction on how to use expert witnesses in civil and criminal actions, with special emphasis on expert testimony. Topics that will be covered in the lecture part of the program include evidentiary rules regarding expert opinions, taking and defending expert depositions, how experts can help and hurt a case, direct and cross-examination of expert witnesses, establishing and challenging expert qualifications, and advanced expert testimony techniques.
In the workshop portion, participants conduct direct and cross-examination of an expert witness.
