Los Angeles Bar To Teach ADR Skills

The Los Angeles County Bar has planned a course titled DRS Advanced Skills Practicum to teach the practical skills necessary for the mastery of mediation and the latest theory in the ADR community.

It is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, May 15 and 16, at the Los Angeles County Bar Association, 261 S. Figueroa Street in Los Angeles, and it will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Speakers Karen Bhangoo of LACBA and Gail Nugent of Dispute Resolution Services will help participants further develop their skills in conflict assessment, building consensus, problem-solving techniques, and managing multi-issue agendas. The course exceeds the minimum practical training requirement for applicants to the Los Angeles Superior Court Pro Bono panel, and it allows students to practice and reinforce critical skills needed in any mediation setting. It also provides excellent preparation for the DRS assessment and certification process.
