McGuireWoods continues to expand with the arrival of partner Linn Mayhew, who joins the firm’s top-ranked debt finance practice in London.
Mayhew focuses on international acquisition and leveraged finance for private equity sponsors, alternative investment funds, banks and corporate clients. She advises borrowers and creditors at all levels of the capital structure. She also advises on fund finance, restructurings and general banking matters.
Mayhew joins McGuireWoods from DLA Piper, where she was a senior finance lawyer. She previously was legal counsel at NatWest, supporting the bank’s leveraged finance business, and was an associate for six years at Simpson Thacher.
McGuireWoods has one of the largest finance practices in the United States and an accomplished debt finance team in London. With lawyers in key financial hubs such as London, New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Charlotte, the firm has handled domestic and cross-border commitments exceeding $100 billion in each of the past nine years. McGuireWoods represents each of the top 10 U.S. banks ranked by assets.
“Linn has a wealth of deal experience and technical knowledge spanning a range of financing transactions and industry sectors,” said London partner Lee Cullinane, who leads the firm’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) finance group. “She enhances our reputation as a leading law firm for debt finance work.”
Mayhew’s arrival follows last year’s additions of Cullinane and partner Marc Naidoo to the debt finance practice in London. She is the third partner to join the London office this year, following white collar litigator Francesca Titus and litigation partner Simon Hems.
“Linn is highly respected for her business acumen and impressive track record guiding clients through complex financing deals,” said Daniel Peyton, managing partner of the London office. “She is another outstanding addition as we continue to bolster our client service strengths in London.”
McGuireWoods ranked No. 1 worldwide for advising lenders in syndicated loans through the first half of 2020 in league tables published by Refinitiv. For nine consecutive years, the firm has ranked among the top 10 U.S. law firms for deal count and dollar volume in authoritative league tables. In addition, the firm was named 2020’s “Law Firm of the Year” for banking and finance law in U.S. News-Best Lawyers’ Best Law Firms.
“McGuireWoods has built one of the world’s pre-eminent banking and finance practices and I look forward to working with my colleagues in London and the U.S. to build on that success and deliver the highest level of service to our clients,” Mayhew said.
