Akin Gump has announced that Andrew Sagor has joined as a partner in the firm’s New York office. Mr. Sagor’s practice focuses on leveraged finance transactions, with a particular emphasis on acquisition finance in connection with private equity transactions. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Sagor was a partner in the New York office of an international law firm, where he was chair of its North America Banking & Finance Practice.

Mr. Sagor has extensive experience leading major leveraged buyouts and a wide variety of domestic and cross-border leveraged financings for large cap and middle-market private equity firms and their portfolio companies, as well as corporate borrowers. Mr. Sagor also has significant experience in financing in-court and out-of-court restructurings, including complex liability management transactions where he has represented both borrowers and lenders.

Mr. Sagor is the latest of several key hires to join Akin Gump’s corporate practice in New York this year, including Amy Wollensack, Sergio Urias, Michelle Chan, Daniel Tavakoli, Jason Koenig and Ike Emehelu.
