LA Bar Presents Environmental Law Symposium

The Los Angeles Bar has scheduled its annual fall Environmental Law Symposium. Titled So Sue Me: What's Hot in Environmental Litigation and Enforcement in Southern California, the event will be held on Friday, November 6, at the Sheraton Delfina (Santa Monica's first green-certified luxury hotel) in Santa Monica from noon until 4:35 p.m.

Los Angeles City Attorney Carmen Trutanich will deliver the keynote address on key environmental issues facing the Southland, where the current economic crisis has forced both the regulated community and regulatory agencies to cut costs and drastically reduce spending.

The symposium will feature three panel discussions with leading environmental lawyers regarding environmental criminal prosecution. At 1:10, leading regional and state regulators will discuss recent developments regarding agency enforcement across three foundational areas of environmental law: air, water and waste. Is It Really so Complicated? Litigating Complex Environmental Civil Cases and Changing the Guard: A Report on Enforcement Activities and Prosecution of Environmental Criminal Laws in the Los Angeles Region will follow.
