Kevin S. Lapidus, senior vice president and general counsel, SunEdison, has been elected 27th President of the Washington Metropolitan Area Corporate Counsel Association (WMACCA).
Mr. Lapidus began his one-year term as WMACCA President on January 30 at the WMACCA Annual Meeting. The meeting featured an address by Robert S. Bennett of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meag-her & Flom LLP, on Representing Corporate America Post-Sarbanes-Oxley.
Previously, Mr. Lapidus served as WMACCA's vice president (programming) and president-elect, as well as being a co-chair of the WMACCA Corporate and Securities Forum. He was first elected to the WMACCA Board in 2005 and was re-elected this year.
Mr. Lapidus said he plans to continue to build on WMACCA's strengths - continuing education programs and resources for in-house counsel, networking opportunities, advocacy on behalf of the in-house bar, and community service outreach.
Mr. Lapidus joined SunEdison, one of North America's largest solar energy service providers, as its chief legal officer in early 2007. Previously he was senior vice president and general counsel, YellowBrix, and, prior to that, senior vice president and general counsel, OneMain.com.
At the Annual Meeting, the following WMACCA officers were elected: Manik K. Rath, vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, LMI, as President-elect; Stephen Dwyer, deputy general counsel, the American Staffing Association, as vice president (programs); Robert E. Gans, senior employment counsel, Computer Sciences Corporation, as vice president (external relations); Curtis L. Schehr, senior vice president and general counsel, DynCorp International LLP, as treasurer, and Joseph M. Titlebaum, general counsel and secretary, XM Satellite Radio Inc., as secretary.
