Jurists Will Offer Their PerspectivesOn How Judges Decide Cases

The Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF) is planning its First Annual Jurisprudence Luncheon, including a presentation titled How Judges Decide Cases.

The program will take place on Thursday, October 25 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the BASF Conference Center, 301 Battery Street, San Francisco.

The program moderator will be James J. Brasnahan, Morrison & Foerster LLP, who will offer a brief history of jurisprudence. The Hon. Joseph R. Grodin, former justice of the California Supreme Court, will discuss The American Realists: Holmes and Cardozo. The Hon. Stephen Reinhart, circuit judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, will examine the practice and theory of deciding cases. The Hon. Alex Kozinski, also circuit judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, will explore the foundation of strict construction.
