Jones Day announced that Justin Huff has joined the Firm’s Washington Office as of counsel in its Government Regulation Practice.
Mr. Huff arrives from the United States Department of the Treasury, Office of Investment Security, where he most recently served as a deputy director. In this capacity he assisted in the coordination of the office responsible for the Treasury Department’s role with the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (“CFIUS”), an interagency process that reviews proposed mergers and acquisitions for potential national security concerns.
Mr. Huff led the review of multiple cases before CFIUS, which included in-depth analysis concerning the authority of CFIUS to review transactions, active engagement with counterparts at other CFIUS member agencies to facilitate consensus, and extensive communication with pertinent parties to the transaction to ensure that CFIUS had the information needed to reach a determination. He negotiated multiple complex agreements between the U.S. government and relevant parties to address concerns raised during these processes.

Prior to his Treasury Department experience, Mr. Huff served as a senior intelligence analyst for the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Coordination, U.S. Department of Agriculture. He also held a senior intelligence advisor role at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

The recipient of the National Intelligence Certificate of Distinction Award for 2013, Mr. Huff has addressed a number of professional conferences on national security issues.
