Anderson Kill is pleased to announce that John M. Leonard and Bruce Strong, attorneys in the firm’s New York office, will become shareholders, effective January 1, 2022.
John M. Leonard concentrates his practice in insurance recovery and corporate and commercial litigation. He has recovered millions of dollars for policyholders in a full spectrum of insurance coverage matters, including disputes over business interruption losses, D&O and E&O defense and indemnity, general liability losses, and environmental liability.
John has represented energy companies, municipalities, manufacturers, financial service providers, railroads, and homeowners. He was part of a team that won a jury verdict, leading to a favorable settlement with multiple insurance companies, for a national transportation company in a dispute over coverage for cleanup of environmental contamination.
John is also a member of the firm's Corporate and Commercial Litigation Group, COVID Task Group, and Technology, Media, and Distributed Systems Group. Since 2018, he has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a New York Metro Rising Star for Insurance Coverage. He holds a B.A. from Loyola University Maryland and a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law.
Bruce Strong concentrates his practice in insurance recovery and corporate and commercial litigation, including cryptocurrency disputes. He has successfully represented clients in complex legal matters including multi-district class action litigation and multi-million dollar property and liability insurance disputes in state and federal courts up to the highest levels, as well as in arbitration.
Bruce is an instrumental team member for the plaintiffs in In Re Terrorist Attacks, the suit filed by the families of victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of the Sudan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and other nations, organizations and individuals who aided al Qaeda in the planning and execution of the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. He works closely on the case with Anderson Kill’s Jerry S. Goldman, counsel to the lead plaintiff in the consolidated cases and thousands of other plaintiffs. Bruce prepared motions that in 2019 and 2020 won default judgments against the Islamic Republic of Iran totaling $12 billion, proceeds of which are now being distributed to U.S. plaintiffs.
Since 2017, Bruce has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a New York Metro Rising Star for Insurance Coverage. He holds a B.A. magna cum laude and phi beta kappa, from Brandeis University and a J.D. cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center.
