Facebook has appointed U.S. Department of State legal advisor Jennifer Newstead as general counsel. She will oversee the company's global legal functions. Newstead succeeds Colin Strech, who has served as Facebook's Vice President and General Counsel since July of 2013.
Newstead was confirmed by the Senate in December of 2017. Prior to joining the State Department, she was a partner with Davis, Polk & Wardwell, where she represented clients in cross-border regulatory, enforcement and litigation matters.
