Astroscale U.S. Inc., a leading provider of on-orbit services and logistics across all orbits, announces the appointment of Janna Lewis as Senior Vice President of Policy and General Counsel, effective immediately.

Based in Washington D.C., Lewis will provide strategic legal and policy direction to facilitate Astroscale U.S.’s growth and ensure compliance with evolving regulations. She will guide the company in the areas of corporate law and governance, contracts, intellectual property and domestic policy, and she will serve on the Astroscale U.S. Board of Directors as Secretary.

Most recently, Lewis served as Senior Corporate Counsel for BAE Systems, Inc., where she supported strategic development and delivery of advanced space and cyber solutions. Prior to that role, she was Corporate Counsel at Northrop Grumman, serving as the senior-level IP lawyer and innovation strategist. Before that, she worked in Innovation Strategy & Partnership Sourcing at Facebook where she managed strategic engagements to advance Facebook’s mission to enable global internet connectivity through airborne and space-based platforms. She was in private legal practice before joining Facebook.
Lewis earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Utah and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Southern Utah University, with certificates earned from the University of Cambridge and Stanford University. She is a registered patent attorney, and a member of the International Institute of Space Lawyers and the AIA Intellectual Property Committee. Lewis is a leading voice on the rapidly evolving laws and policies affecting the space industry.
