Schulte Roth & Zabel is proud to announce the addition of James McCann as a partner in the Tax Group in New York.
Jim has extensive experience with the tax aspects of structuring, launching and operating private investment funds, including advising on transactions and matters relating to management companies and their principals. He also works with numerous family offices associated with current and former private fund managers, and advises clients on tax issues involving transactions, financings and reorganizations, with a particular emphasis on cross-border matters.

“The lawyers in our Tax Group, who are widely known as among the top practitioners in their field, work from the upper tier to the portfolio company level and are an integral part of our collaborative and strategic approach,” said David Efron, co-managing partner of Schulte. “We look forward to Jim’s contributions to this esteemed team.”
“I’m very excited to join Schulte,” said Jim. “It’s a one-of-a-kind opportunity to work with a wide range of uniquely experienced practitioners and to bring my knowledge to one of the world’s leading private investment fund-focused teams.”
Jim graduated from Rutgers University with a B.A. and obtained his J.D. from Cornell University School of Law.
He is the latest partner to join Schulte, which added a number of new partners in the last year, including Julia Beskin, Tim Gilman, Chris Gerson and John Nowak (Litigation); Michael Didiuk (Investment Management); and David Curtiss and Damian Petrovic (M&A and Securities).
