Ivet Bell joins Freshfields as Private Funds & Secondaries Partner

Global law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (Freshfields) announced today that Ivet Bell has joined the firm as a partner in New York and as a member of the firm’s Private Funds & Secondaries group. Today’s announcement comes on the heels of SecondaryLink’s recent nomination of the firm as Best Secondaries Law Firm of 2023.

Ivet has extensive experience across the full spectrum of private funds transactions, including fund formation (across all strategies and types), manager formation, secondaries transactions (sell-side and buy-side), GP stakes deals and LP primary investments and co-investments. Her range of experience both complements and deepens the range of services offered by the Private Funds & Secondaries team, which currently is comprised of over 40 lawyers across the firm’s global footprint.

Global Co-Heads of the firm’s Private Funds & Secondaries team Tim Clark and Mary Lavelle said: “Ivet is a fabulous addition to our team. Her breadth of experience and commitment to serving clients in a manner commensurate with the Freshfields global brand of excellence is exciting to us.” Tim also noted: “I have worked closely with Ivet in the past, and I know first-hand the kind of value, dedication and attention to detail she brings to every project.”

Ivet commented: "I am excited to join the momentum of Freshfield's phenomenal trajectory of success in the US. I was drawn by the firm's impressive track record, high-caliber talent and positive culture in the US and globally. I am looking forward to shaping a practice with Tim and Mary based on our shared vision of what a world-class Private Funds and Secondaries practice should look like.”

US Managing Partner Sarah Solum added: “Ivet joining Freshfields is consistent with the firm’s commitment to our strong offering in the world of private capital, including fund formation, secondaries, leveraged finance, capital solutions and private equity. We are thrilled to have her on board.”

Ivet and Mary will co-host a Women in Secondaries (WIS) event in London later this month – WIS is an organization Mary co-founded several years ago.
